Loan estimates may exclude fees, insurance or changes in rates. Investment and inflation projections use assumed rates, with no guarantee of returns. Tax and take-home-pay tools may use simplified rates or your own withholding assumptions; they are not tax-filing or payroll software.
Mortgage conventions
Payment estimates depend on rate conventions and payment timing. The Québec mortgage tool currently uses a simplified annual-rate-divided-by-12 model. It does not model the semiannual compounding convention common to Canadian fixed-rate mortgages, mortgage insurance, penalties or lender-specific terms. Confirm payments with the lender.
